Key words: Fiction, Modern Work, Picture Book
Recommended Reading Level: Grades K, 1
Theme: A day in the life of a young boy.
Summary: A cookie is given to an energetic mouse, and the consequences are quite amusing as one request from the little visitor leads to another. The final result of the mouse's requests is one very tired host and one endless cycle of activity.
Strengths: This is a humorous little book with bright, colorful illustrations. The sentences are short with only one or two per page. The simple vocabulary is ideal for a young reader. The lively antics of the mouse make it a memorable story for any young person.
Weaknesses: I simply cannot think of any. There is no moral lesson or great truth to be taught by this book, but can't some stories simply be fun to read?
Other Notes: This is an enjoyable story for a young person to read or have read to them.
