My nurseries are relatively new and felt that the air quality was good because I have very good air flow and circulation. After I installed the ozone unit, there was a definite improvement in the air quality. My vet, and feed representative, have both commented that the air seems to be very fresh and the pigs are very active and seem to be healthier.

When I closed out the first group of the nursery pigs that had the ozone, I felt they gained faster than what my pigs normally gain.

I have 2 nursery rooms and can only run ozone in 1 of the rooms. When I weaned the last group, I left the ozone in the room with the oldest pigs. After about a week, the room with the younger pigs broke with greasy pig. Some of them were black and one had it so bad that his ears were completely black. Whenever I have had greasy pig, the pigs never do very well and always seem to grow slower than the other pigs. At that point, I decide to move the ozone treatment to that room and administer normal medication. The results were amazing, within a week the only signs of greasy pig were a few spots on the bellies of a few of them. The pig with the bad ears was completely recovered and his ears were pink again. They all seem to be growing at the same rate and I can’t tell which pigs were infected.

I am very happy with the results I have seen since I started using the ozone unit and I would recommend that other pork producers take a good look at this equipment for their buildings.

I feel that air quality is important for good performance, but it is probably more important for the people who have to work in the buildings.
